The last matches of the Limpopo Premier League hockey for primary schools took place on Friday, 31st of August and Saturday, the 1st of September.

The Laerskool Tzaneen Primary boys’ teams played in the semi-final match against their neighbours, Unicorn Preparatory School. In a really well contested match, Unicorn managed to win by one goal. Later in the evening it was time to face Laerskool Pietersburg-Oos. Although the visitors had beaten the Larries 1/0, the Larries never stopped fighting and showed great sportsmanship throughout the game. The boys ended the hockey season in 4th place.

Early on Saturday morning the girls won their semi-final match against Unicorn by 8 goals. Then it was time to face Laerskool Pietersburg-Oos in the final where they seemed to have met their match and stepped off the pitch in a 0-2 defeat. The girls ended their season as runners-up in the LPL league for 2018.

Dineo Letsoalo of the Open-A girls’ team was crowned the top goal scorer throughout the league with 8 goals.

Tzaneen’s mini hockey players travelled to Polokwane and they enjoyed playing matches at Laerskool Pietersburg-Oos. In total, 59 matches were played on the day, 42 were won, 9 matches ended in a draw and 8 were lost.

Some of the other Tzaneen teams travelled to Dr Annecke to play matches against Mariepskop Primary. The Tzaneen teams won three of their matches, drew one and lost one on the day.
